I am an American writer and consultant based in London. My blog, Real Delia, explores the journey of adulthood. My writing has appeared in major international media outlets including The New York Times, The Financial Times, The BBC World Service and USA Today, and I have been a featured blogger at The Washington Post’s She The People and Politics Daily’s Woman Up. I am currently a regular contributor to two websites exploring women’s fulfillment as they age: Better After 50 and Sixty and Me. I have also worked as a producer for Chicago Public Radio and as a London correspondent for AOL’s Politics Daily.
I have also had an accomplished career in policy and research. I hold a PhD in political science from Stanford University and have taught on the faculty of MIT and The University of Chicago. I served as a Senior Development Advisor at The United States Treasury Department and worked as Head of Policy and Research Insight at the BBC’s international development charity, BBC Media Action. In 2017, I was invited to spend a year as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, where I wrote on a book about swimming and adulthood. I am currently launching a consulting company that will help people to communicate more authentically in their personal and professional lives.
